This beautiful family just happened to be at Ventura Beach while my wife and I were there taking photos. I originally was taking images of the family as they played near the surf, enjoying the silhouette effect of their bodies against the sparking surf. Later as they were about to leave, I worked up the nerve to ask them to do a "family" pose for me. Graciously they accepted. It's a great family photo which will serve as a benchmark for similar efforts in the future.

What are re-enactments? It's an event where people dress in costume to re-enact some historic event or storied era in history. If a bunch of people get dressed up in 1890s cowboy outfits and strut down to a horse lot marked "O.K. Corral," they're "re-enactors" - and you can bet there's going to be a bloody shoot-out pretty soon. If they get dressed up as pirates, they... well, you get the idea.

Imagine an image of a six-year-old leaping into a pile of colorful autumn leaves.
